Well, hello there! My name is Bria and I’m the awkward 23 year old author of Finessing Finances whose head is constantly in the clouds! Don’t let that picture above fool you! At this point in time, I’m located in Gyeongju, South Korea teaching English and I’m a graduate of Florida State University (Go ‘Noles!).

Oddly enough, my degree was in Criminology, which obviously has nothing to do with finance, but throughout those four years in college, I learned a lot about managing my personal finances, as well as having a money savvy grandfather and I hope to extend that knowledge to my peers and those younger than me.

I believe that as a generation, we can prove to everyone that we are capable of being better-prepared financially than they seem to assume. This is a place where we can feel comfortable talking about our journeys as a community and gain insight from each other. Nothing beats not making a costly mistake if it can be avoided, am I right?!

To bounce off of that, I was bitten by the travel bug at the end of my sophomore year of college, when I thought that it would be a blast to study abroad in China for the summer. I’m a big fan of discovering and embracing different cultures, so China seemed perfect. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out, but a better opportunity came around when I embarked on a semester long study abroad term in London at the beginning of my senior year in late 2015.

This is where my desire to travel abroad intensified and once I planned and budgeted for a trip to Japan, I realized that traveling outside of the U.S. (and even throughout) didn’t have to cost an arm, leg and your first-born child like everyone seems to think. Now, I’m obsessed with trying to finesse the system to see the world !

I’m so grateful that you all are here to share in the magic and please feel free to reach out to me anytime!
